The Faculty of Business and Law (FBL) is distinctive in its engagement with students at the point of practice, its focus on international perspectives in business, management and law and its enduring emphasis on issues of social importance.

About the Faculty

Intrinsically interdisciplinary in approach, the Faculty produces cutting-edge research that informs our world-class teaching and inspires out students, academics and the general public.

FBL is made up of 2 schools: Business and Law. The Business School is triple accredited (AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS). Our internationally recognised teaching and learning methods take education right to the heart of leadership and management practice. Tutors are experienced business professionals. Over 108,000 people from more than 125 countries have already studied with The Open University Business School. A leader in flexible learning for 25 years, the Law School offers world renowned and innovative legal education. More than 60,000 people have already studied with us and our undergraduate law degree is the most popular in the UK. Currently, 9,000 students in 45 countries are taking our courses, and we continue to lead the sector in part-time distance learning.

There are approximately 550 Associate Lecturers teaching in the faculty, comprised of; 250 Academics, 73 Academic Related Staff, 42 Support Staff.

Additionally, there are 6 disciplines, 71 modules, 8 Under-Graduate Degrees, 4 Post Graduate Degrees and 3 Apprenticeships

You’ll be enabling our strategic mission by taking the lead in defining the future of the Open University and helping lead us through a period of profound change and development. As the Executive Dean of FBL, you’ll be accountable for the strategic leadership and management of the Faculty.
